Priming Swimming Pool Pumps and Filters
It’s important to prime swimming pool pumps and filters, which is a term used to purge the air from the pool water pump, ensuring the filter pump is moving pool water adequately. These simple swimming pool pumps and filters tips can help you ensure your pump is primed.
1. Turn off your pump.
2. Close all valves on the suction side of your swimming pool pump (main drain, skimmer, vacuum lines).
3. Open the strainer lid to the pump, slowly.
4. Look at the strainer basket for debris and clean it out if needed. Also be sure the basket is in good condition.
5. Look at the gasket or O-Ring for the strainer top. Be sure it can create a good seal and is clean.
6. Replace it and fill the strainer with water. You can do this using a bucket or garden hose.
7. Put the strainer lid back on and make sure that it forms a good seal.
8. If there are knobs to tighten, tighten them evenly using only your hands. Do not use a wrench or other tool because it may cause you to over-tighten them, causing distortion or breaking.
Swimming Pool Equipment Needed to Care for an Endless Pool
When purchasing a new product like an endless pool you will want to know what type of equipment you may need to maintain it at its optimal level.
This will greatly depend on the type of finish your endless pool has as well as weather or not it has extras. Many endless pools come with solar paneled covers to use for heating the water so that you do not need an additional heating unit installed.
Endless pools are unique in the fact that they do not require a lot of pool equipment in order to properly maintain them. There are filters in place that work to keep algae and harm full bacteria out of the water, and these filters will need to be replaced every three to six months depending on your environment and usage of the product.
These filters are often made from copper and silver. You will also need a test kit to test the water each week and some basic household bleach to add to the water when needed.
You will want a pool cover no matter where you have the pool located. If it is an indoor endless pool you will want the cover to keep the humidity levels down inside the house when the pool is not in use.
