Basics of Pool and Spa Supplies and Chemicals
It can be a lot of fun to have a swimming pool. However, maintaining a pool properly can seem like an overwhelming task at times. Today there are many supplies and accessories available for swimming pools and you may have a hard time figuring out what works and what doesn’t. However, if you know the basics then taking care of your pool isn’t that difficult.
First you need to determine what pool cleaning supplies you need. Obviously you will need nets to hand clean the surface of the pool. Stiff bristle brushes and cleansers help to clean the sides of pools.
A handy item to have is a pool water level checker which makes it easier to maintain your pool. With a pool water level you just need to attach a water hose and make a few simple connections. Then it will check the level of the water in your pool and automatically keep it filled to a specific level.
Another aspect of keeping your pool clean and safe is chemicals. Today there are a lot of products on the market that will treat swimming pool water. Some products include sanitizers, algaecide, stabilizers, balancers and shocks.
If just one chemical is imbalanced then it can harm swimmers or cause damage to your heating, filtering or pumping system. You always want to make sure your pool looks clear so you should regularly monitor it to maintain its cleanliness.
Ideally a pool pH level should be between 7.4 and 7.6. If levels are too high or too low it could result in corrosion, skin and eye irritation or damage to the filtration system.
